Residence Life
BVU will continue to provide double occupancy housing to students. If students are not comfortable with this living situation due to COVID-19 safety concerns, they have the option of remote learning. Students also have the option of being added to the single-room waiting list by contacting Residence Life.

Updated Quarantine Policy
Individuals with symptoms who receive a positive test result will self-isolate until:
- at least 10 days have passed since the symptoms first appeared
- at least 48 hours have passed without a fever–without the use of fever-reducing medications
- other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving
Individuals who are identified as a close contact will:
- Quarantine for 10 days.
- Receive a COVID-19 on day seven of quarantine.
- If the test is negative, and they have no symptoms, they will finish the 10-day quarantine and be cleared to return to classes or work.
- If the test is positive:
- An asymptomatic individual will self-isolate for a total of 10 days and be cleared to return to classes or work.
- A symptomatic individual will self-isolate until at least 10 days have passed since the symptoms first appeared and
Residence Hall Policies
- Campus Visitor/Guest Policies: No overnight guests will be allowed.
- On-campus resident: Students who report they have tested positive for COVID-19 will either be immediately moved to self-isolation on third floor of Liberty Hall or transportation will be arranged to return to their permanent home address (unless they require hospitalization).
- Face Coverings and Distancing: Face covers and physical distancing will be required until further notice, and students will complete the daily COVID-19 Self Assessment once they return to campus. BVU will continue to follow the guidelines put in place during the Fall Semester including no outside guests and visitors.
- Visitation: Resident visitation in campus housing has been reinstated as of Jan. 29, 2021. Visitation is allowed at a 1:1 guest-to-resident ratio. The maximum amount of people allowed in each suite is eight people (eight includes residents and guests).
Residence Hall Facilities
- Cleaning: Custodial cleaning in residence halls will increase to two times per day, seven days per week.
- Training: Videos will be made available on proper procedures for cleaning personal space.
- Staff entering living spaces: Custodial and Maintenance staff will appropriate protective equipment when entering student living space. When entering, they must leave a note on the door that they entered the space, why they entered, time, and name of individual who entered room.
- Handwashing: Handwashing supplies will be continuously stocked with trash cans emptied regularly. Signage in bathrooms will be provided on how to wash hands properly and protect self.
- Showers: Sanitizing materials will be available to for residents to sanitize in-between showers.
Residence Hall Community Spaces
- Lounges: Lounges will have a limited amount of space for students. Students must physically distance in all common areas. The floor/public lounges will be reserved for residents living in the community. Furniture will be arranged for physical distancing.
- Cleaning: Cleaning and disinfecting shared areas will happen frequently throughout the day.
- Signage: Physical distancing expectations/rules will be posted throughout residence halls.
- Kitchens: Two students are permitted to use kitchens at one time.
- Laundry Rooms: No more than four residents may occupy the laundry room at a time in Pierce and White Halls. No more than two is the limit for for Liberty Hall and Grand Hall, and the limit is one for the suites.
Room Checks and Events
- Health and Safety Checks: Individual room checks will be conducted once a month to ensure compliance with University policies.
- Events: Large events will be suspended or conducted virtually to help create a community atmosphere.

Students will be required to complete a daily temperature and symptoms check.
Approved facial coverings include face masks, face shields, or a gaiter/bammie. A bandana is NOT an approved facial covering.
Disinfectant, wipes, and other supplies for sanitizing personal space, personal items, and workspaces.
Use sanitizer for your hands when soap and water are not immediately available.
