Two BVU Coaches Earn A-R-C Honors

Both baseball and softball head coaches named Coach of the Year.

Head Baseball Coach Steve Eddie

Coach Eddie, BVU Class of 2000, was voted as Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career. He earns the honor after guiding the Beavers to a 27-14 record and an outright regular season conference title. It marks his first selection since the 2014 season when he guided the Beavers to a program record 37 wins (37-9) and captured both the regular season and conference tournament championships. The latest selection is yet another achievement in what has been a storied coaching career for the Beaver's skipper. After 22 seasons, all of which have been with BVU, Eddie sits as one of only four current coaches in the American Rivers Conference with at least 400 career victories.  His teams have captured a trio of regular season conference championships (2010, 2014, 2022) while winning three league tournament championships (2010, 2014, 2019). Beyond the on-field successes the 2022 campaign was a special season for the head coach, as he got to manage his son, Mark Eddie, at the collegiate level for the first time. The Beavers coach led the team to a .312 batting average overall, leading the A-R-C. Eddie's staff is made up of Steve Sonka – Pitching Coach and Nate Hanner – Assistant Coach.

Head Softball Coach Mandie Nocita

Coach Nocita was voted as Coach of the Year for the first time in her career and becomes the first in program history to do so since Hall of Famer Marge Willadsen in 1995 (Willadsen was an honorary selection upon her retirement in 2008). Nocita helped lead BVU to a 26-12 overall record during the regular season and a 10-6 mark in conference play en route to clinching the program's first regular season conference crown since 1996. Her squad ranked third during conference play in average (.308), runs (83), hits (136) and total bases (199). It was also tied for second with 26 doubles. BVU was second in pitching with a 3.06 ERA and was one of two teams to win at least 10 conference games (Dubuque). The staff pitched 109.2 total innings which tied for the most and its 100 strikeouts was by far the highest total.
