Daniel Phillips Named to Board of Trustees
Buena Vista University has announced that Daniel Phillips has been elected to its Board of Trustees. He has more than 35 years of experience in the financial services industry, serving as a highly successful producer for Piper Jaffrey and UBS before joining Robert W. Baird & Co. as senior vice president for investments in 2013.
Buena Vista University has announced that Daniel Phillips of Excelsior, Minn., has been elected to its Board of Trustees.
Phillips has more than 35 years of experience in the financial services industry, serving as a highly successful producer for Piper Jaffrey and UBS before joining Robert W. Baird & Co. as senior vice president for investments in 2013.
"Dan Phillips' extensive experience in the financial services industry, combined with his deep commitment to BVU and its students, will bring a well-informed and robust perspective to the Board and his roles on the Investment and Student Affairs Committees. We look forward to having his input and working with him," said BVU President Fred Moore.
Phillips is a 1977 BVU graduate who majored in business with a minor in economics. He served on the BVU Alumni Board from 2002-07, the last two years as chair, and was the 2011 recipient of the BVU Henry Olson Distinguished Service Alumni Award.
"I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to serve on the Board of Trustees. While serving on the BVU alumni board, I developed a greater appreciation of the challenges and opportunities facing Buena Vista. During that time, I also developed relationships with President Moore and his staff," said Phillips. "I'm looking forward to working with them again and with other Board of Trustee members."
Among his civic involvements, Phillips is a Minnetonka Youth Hockey board member and involved in the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, University of Minnesota Goal Line Club and the Kelly Phillips Charitable Foundation, founded in memory of his daughter. The Foundation supports and Dan is a Board member of an Inner City Youth Hockey Program named Dinomights. Dinomights promotes Academic, Athletic, Social and Spiritual Development of underprivileged youth in Minneapolis.
Phillips and his wife, Jane, have two children: Annie, a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, and Bobby, a student at the University of Minnesota.
