BVU, St. Edmond Catholic School Form Strategic Partnership

A Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University and the St. Edmond Catholic School deepens the University’s more than 45-year connection to the Fort Dodge community.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and the St. Edmond Catholic School have formed a Strategic Partnership to benefit their school, staff, and communities.

This partnership allows for employees of the St. Edmond Catholic School, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

BVU professors and staff are also available for training programs, workshops, and more should officials with the St. Edmond Catholic School seek those services and expertise.

“I hope by adding this as a benefit to our staff, many will be able to take advantage of it.”

Mary Gibb, St. Edmond Catholic School President

“I am thrilled to be able to partner with BVU to provide our employees an opportunity to further their own education, their spouse’s or child’s education through a BVU partner grant,” says St. Edmond Catholic School President Mary Gibb. “I hope by adding this as a benefit to our staff, many will be able to take advantage of it.”

The St. Edmond Catholic School educates approximately 610 students in grades PK-12. With its main campus in Fort Dodge, the school’s 80 employees serve students from around the Greater Fort Dodge region.

BVU has long enjoyed strong educational ties in and around Fort Dodge, home to Iowa Central Community College, a campus that has collaborated with BVU for decades. Students enrolled in a program through ICCC can seamlessly transfer their credits toward their bachelor’s degree at BVU. Students receive personalized support including admissions and enrollment counseling and academic advising right in Fort Dodge through BVU’s office on the ICCC campus.

“We are excited for our partnership with the St. Edmond Catholic School in Fort Dodge, an area we are already deeply connected to,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “At BVU, we strive to strengthen our communities and workforce through educational opportunities.”
