BVU, Charles City Schools Link Via Strategic Partnership

By partnering with Buena Vista University, the Charles City Community School District offers educational benefits to its employees and their eligible family members.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and the Charles City Community School District have joined forces as Strategic Partners to help support those who serve students.

This partnership allows for employees of Charles City Community School District, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

“Providing anyone the opportunity to go back and continue or start their education is valuable in any area.”

“Providing anyone the opportunity to go back and continue or start their education is valuable in any area,” says Charles City Community School District Director of Academic Services Dr. Jennifer Schilling. “I’m a big proponent of education in general, and this will provide people with another alternative.”

The Charles City Community School District, located in Charles City, provides educational programs for about 1,500 students in the Floyd County seat. More than 250 staff members serve Lincoln Elementary School, Washington Elementary School, Charles City Middle School, Charles City High School, and the virtual learning Innovative Campus. The district’s mission focuses on challenging “all students to achieve their full potential through engaging, responsive, educational experiences that inspire innovation, critical thinking, and collaboration.

“We are excited to be working with the Charles City Community School District, an organization that boasts many honorable distinctions and a dedicated teaching staff focused on encouraging students to become the best versions of themselves,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “An affordable and accessible education remains at the heart of building stronger individuals and communities, so we look forward to the opportunities our collaboration in this Strategic Partnership will create in Charles City, the state of Iowa, and points beyond.”
