BVU Alumni and Friends Tour Continues in West Des Moines

Next Beaver Nation Gathering Slated for Site-1 Brewery in Omaha on May 23

Buena Vista University continued its alumni tour 2023 with a pair of stops in West Des Moines in early May.

On May 2, dozens of Beaver alumni and friends gathered at Smash Park in West Des Moines to hear from President Brian Lenzmeier as well as from coaches David Wells (women’s basketball), Trevor Johnson (men’s basketball), Austin Dickinson ’10 (football), and Will Baumann ’04 (volleyball).

The event was hosted by Robin Wissink, Executive Director of Development, and Scott Brown, Director of Athletics.

“We were thrilled to see so many join us for a time of conversation and the chance to reconnect to BVU and to one another,” Wissink said. “The Smash Park site proved popular as there are so many throughout ‘Beaver Nation’ who live and work in the Des Moines area. The famous ‘Beaver Train’ even broke out on the dance floor, which was cool to see.”

“We’re thrilled to see firsthand all that our Beaver graduates and friends are doing to build their companies and communities.”

The groundswell of support continued the following day at Central Bank in West Des Moines as Central Bank Senior Vice President and Market President Brett Smith ’01 graciously hosted a Breakfast B4 Business event in conjunction with the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce and BVU’s Strategic Partnerships initiative. President Lenzmeier delivered a quick quiz featuring some fun BVU trivia to get the day started.

“It was so much fun being in and around Beavers in West Des Moines and it gave us a chance to share news about all the wonderful things happening at BVU,” Lenzmeier said. “Hosting events across Iowa, the Midwest, and throughout the country in recent months has shown us how excited our alumni and friends are about the developments we’re executing in the way of facilities, academic programs, co-curricular activities, enrollment, and more.

“Plus, we’re thrilled to see firsthand all that our Beaver graduates and friends are doing to build their companies and communities,” President Lenzmeier added.

The next get-together for BVU alumni and friends takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on May 23 at Site-1 Brewing in Omaha. To RSVP, check this link. Go Beavers!
