ACES Student Life Event: Sex in the Dark: The Three Components of Consensual Sex

Date: Thursday, April 25, 2013
Time: 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Location: Estelle Siebens Science Center SC 126

Have you ever wondered if the person you are with wants to have sex, but you're not sure how to ask?   Do you just assume that it's okay because s/he hasn't said no?  What happens if you have sex and it turns out that your partner didn't want to do it?   There was once a time when if a person said no, they really meant yes.  Then things changed, and if a person didn't say no, they meant yes.  And then things changed again, because today if a person doesn't say yes, yes, and yes, the answer is no.  Knowing how to have truly consensual sex is a critical skill, one that involves both ethics and legalities.  Join Pamela Lassiter Cathey, the President of The Institute for the Prevention of Relationship Violence, for this fascinating ACES talk.  Learn about the three components of consensual sex and keep yourself, and those you care about, safe as well as satisfied.
