BV Buddies is a mentoring program pairing middle school students with BVU students. This program is connected to the Storm Lake School Districts program STARS. The focus of the program is to create positive, mentoring relationships between Buena Vista University students and fifth through eighth grade middle school students in the form of community service.  Many of the middle school students are "at-risk" students which we would rather refer to as "on the brink of success".  We meet an hour a week with our mentees in which we engage in positive activities such as helping with homework, arts and crafts, cooking, games, and sporting activities.  Along with weekly activities, we go on field trips twice a year to build relationships and experience opportunities they may not be able to on their own.
