Coach VH Records 350th Career Win on Saturday with 79-62 Rout of Wartburg



The Buena Vista men's basketball team completed the season sweep of Wartburg College on Saturday afternoon and also gave head coach Brian VanHaaften is 350th career win in the process with a 79-62 triumph in Waverly.

Junior Cole Darrow turned in a game-high 27 points, on 9-of-17 shooting, while also making all seven of his free-throw attempts.  Freshman Kennedy Drew was also in double-figures with 10 points, including a buzzer-beating layup to end the first half and give the Beavers a 33-24 lead at intermission.

Junior Nick Wuebker turned in six points, while also grabbing a team-leading 11 rebounds.

As a team, the Beavers shot 48 percent from the field in the contest and made 19-of-25 attempts at the free-throw line.  Defensively, the Beavers outrebounded the Knights, 41-34.

BVU blew the game open by using a 13-5 spurt to begin the second half and build a 46-29 lead with only six minutes gone by.  The lead eventually grew to as many as 26 on a jumper from Alex Savage with 7:07 left.
