BVU’s psychology program has one of the strongest research programs in the Midwest. All majors complete an independent, year-long project early in the program that allows for hands-on learning of research methodology and statistical analyses. These projects are presented at both local and regional conferences, an opportunity for our students to travel, network, and gain professional experience.
During January term, many students engage in prestigious internships. Each year, the psychology department sends students to the famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. to learn from research mentors who are working directly with patients.
Finally, seniors may participate in an Advanced Research set of courses that result in additional conference presentations throughout the country. Many of these projects are published in national journals, a key to successful entry into graduate programs.
Four professors have been selected as finalists for BVU's 2015 George Wythe Award for Excellence in Teaching. The winner will be announced at the Faculty and Staff Recognition Dinner on May 22. Read more...
