Digital Media Students Present at National Conference

Several members of the BVU chapter of the Society for Collegiate Journalists (SCJ) attended the national College Media Association conference in New Orleans from Oct. 23-26. Together with Dr. Andrea Frantz, associate professor of digital media, SCJ members Grace Bodey, Aaron Burns, and Shauna McKnight presented a session entitled, “Breaking Out and Breaking it Down: A Year in the Life of a Multimedia News Organization’s Transition” that demonstrated how the university’s traditional print student newspaper The Tack evolved into a fully online multimedia news organization. All three students are members of the editorial staff of The Tack and were part of the leadership team with Associate Professor Jamii Claiborne, Tack advisor, which spearheaded the change.

SCJ executive team members Gerardo Flores, Katy Rubino, and Scott Locati also attended the national conference.  Students attended workshops led by professionals in broadcast, online, print, public relations, media management and law.
