As we explore the beginnings and development of Buddhism, we will travel through part of northern India, touch down in geographical center and then go south. We will live in both the monestary/home of the Tibetan monks (who were here at BVU this past Fall) and Sevagram (the home of Gandhi at the time of his death). Through all this you will not only see one of the seven wonders of the world (the Taj Mahal), and sites central to the beginnings of Buddhism, you will also have multiple opportunities to personally engage: 1) people who worked with Gandhi, and 2) people who live in the Tibetan community in exile. These interactions will enrich your understanding of social justice, Buddhism, and your place in the world. For more information, attend a an informational meeting on Monday, April 14, 5:00-5:30 pm at Forum Rm #2. Please contact with either Swasti Bhattacharyya (bhattacharyya@bvu.edu) or Miyuki Vamadevan Arimoto (vamadevanar@bvu.edu) if you are unable to attend or have any questions.
