"Voluntourism" Performs Service, Crosses Panama Canal

Jan. 18, 2014

Students and faculty on the Interim travel course "Voluntourism" traveled through the Panama Canal on Jan. 16. Their cruise ship is shown passing through the canal at Gatun Locks thanks to a webcam broadcast on the Panama Canal website.

Before the adventure through the canal, the Voluntourism class made stops at a rescue mission in Miami, the Cayman Island Animal Shelter, and a children's foundation in Columbia. After the canal transit, the class will stop for service efforts in Costa Rica, Mexico, and a final stop in Los Angeles.
