Winter Survival Skills

Jan. 21, 2013

Alex Gleaves (left), a sophomore computer science major, and Cody Voga, a senior sports management major, work together to weave the toe of a snowshoe in the Interim class "BVU Survivor." The course focuses on skills needed to hunt, hike and explore.

In addition to making snowshoes, the students will learn knapping techniques to make arrowheads and take field trips during the month to experience geocaching (a modern outdoor scavenger hunt) and hiking. Instructor Amy Letsche is a freelance naturalist who has enjoyed adventures in nature coast to coast.
