Buena Vista University has joined a national network of colleges and universities recognized by the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals (NASPA) for their commitment to making civic engagement, service learning and community engagement a priority.
The institutions included in NASPA’s Lead Initiative were announced on August 19, 2013. Buena Vista University joins Wake Forest University, Stanford University, Florida State University, Boston College and 67 other top-rated schools nationwide.
“This is important to the University because it not only recognizes us as an institution with a strong commitment to civic engagement, but it gives us additional resources and networking opportunities to be even stronger,” said Dr. Ashley Farmer-Hanson, Director of Civic Engagement at BVU. “The Lead Initiative provides a platform to work with some of the best schools in the nation, share resources and develop the best ways to ensure our students are engaged, active citizens.”
BVU has a long history of service. With the Lead Initiative and its partner schools, Farmer-Hanson’s office will continue to develop students as leaders and citizens through a commitment to service and civic engagement.
