Austin Groth, Shaylia Barber and Kelsey O' Connor – all first year honors students – practice a traditional hands-on beading technique in the Interim class "Native North American Arts and Culture." The class is taught by Rebecca Frates, assistant professor of graphic design, and focuses on the cultural significance of Native American artwork.
Visiting and exhibiting artist Jessie Palczewski conducted the beading workshop and led a discussion about her artwork in the campus gallery. Palczewski is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe.
