Tibbetts will return for a second season as an assistant coach for the softball team in 2013. He is no stranger to BVU athletics, as he was a top relief pitcher for the Beaver baseball team from 2002-04. During that time, he posted nine career saves, which is currently the second-most in program history. His 40 career appearances are also the seventh-most.
Tibbetts, who graduated in 2006 from Buena Vista with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and special education, is in his seventh year of teaching, including the last thtee at Storm Lake elementary school. He's also spent one summer as an assistant high school baseball coach for a Storm Lake St. Mary's team that finished 18-8 in 2011.
Upon graduation from BVU, he had spent two years coaching at Aplington Parkersburg as an assistant girls basketball coach. He then moved on to Clear Creek-Amana for four years where he was a teacher and coach before returning to Storm Lake. He spent two years there as an assistant boy's basketball and baseball coach before later spending two years as head baseball coach.
Cody and his wife, Abby, who is an Athletic Trainer for BVU, reside in Alta.
