Women's Basketball Picked Sixth in Preseason Coaches Poll

Nov. 15, 2012

Storm Lake, Iowa

The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Preseason Women's Basketball Coaches Poll has been announced, and the Beavers have been picked to finish sixth.

BVU, which finished last season at 11-14 overall (6-10 IIAC) while narrowly missing out on the IIAC Tournament, finished with 23 points in the poll.  Dubuque (34 points) was ahead of the Beavers in fifth.

Coe College received six of the possible seven first-place votes and was picked as the favorite to win the title.  Simpson and Loras each received one first-place vote and finished second and third, respectively, in the poll.

"The Iowa Conference is so competitive in women's basketball," says BVU head coach Janet Berry.  "It is a battle every night.  I predict this season will be the same.  We have some talented new faces and some seasoned veterans that I feel will combine to have a successful season."

The Beavers will get their season started on Friday night, November 16, by facing Washington University (Mo.) at 7:00pm on the first day of the Washington University McWilliams Classic.
