Buena Vista sophomore Seth Woodson picked up where he left off last spring with a win in the 800m run, as he captured the title on Friday afternoon during the Nebraska Wesleyan Invite. The event opened the indoor season for BVU.
Woodson, who won the outdoor title at last year's IIAC Outdoor Championships, crossed the finish line Friday with a time of 1:56.32; just 0.06 seconds in front of the runner-up from Nebraska-Kearney. He's inching closer to the school record, which was set back in 2001 by his head coach Jeff Brennan in a time of 1:53.73. Woodson's brother, Garrett, was right behind in 11th place in a time of 2:00.30.
Woodson was also the lead runner on the men's 4x400 meter relay team that took fourth overall with their clocking of 3:28.41.
Brian Patterson also gave BVU a top-five finish by capturing fourth in the 600 meter run. He reached the finish line in a time of 1:26.51; just three seconds back of the winning time. Ryan Eberly was just three seconds off the winning time in the 400 meter dash, taking 13th overall with a time of 52.70.
On the women's side, Maggie Marker was the top individual finisher after placing seventh in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.91 seconds. Laura Eberly and Casey James were close behind with times of 27.49 and 27.84 seconds, respectively.
