The Buena Vista softball team wrapped up its regular season on Sunday afternoon by hosting Bellevue University in a non-conference doubleheader.  The Bruins combined to hit five home runs en route to 5-0 and 14-1 triumphs.

Bellevue broke a scoreless game with a two-out solo home run to left for a 1-0 lead before adding three more in the fifth.

The second home run of the contest came in the sixth as the Bruins built their five-run margin.

BVU got hits from six different players in the contest, but stranded nine runners on base.

Freshman Jenna Falline was charged with the loss, allowing four runs (one earned) on eight hits, while striking out three over 4.2 innings.  Junior Molly Cox worked the final 2.1 innings and allowed the final run.

The Bruins scored three runs in both the second and fourth innings and took an 8-0 lead in the fifth.

Jessy Bibler chopped an infield single to third base to drive in the first run of the day for BVU to extend the game.

Bellevue then added six more runs, including two more home runs, in the seventh inning for the game’s final runs.

Eight players had one hit each for BVU, including doubles from Britney Kubik and Erin Kliefoth.

Faith Schmidt took the loss after working the first 3.2 innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits.  Cox then came on in relief for the final 3.1 innings and was also tagged for seven runs (four earned) on eight hits.

Buena Vista wraps up the regular season at 14-20 overall.  The team now turns its focus to the Iowa Conference Tournament which takes place from May 2-4 in Cedar Rapids with Coe College earning the number one seed and the hosting rights.  The Beavers, who are the sixth-seed, begin play on Thursday afternoon against third-seed Luther College at 12:00pm.
