The Buena Vista men’s tennis team has been recognized for posting its best overall season in the last 15 years by landing an all-conference player for the first time since 2002 and also landing Iowa Conference Co-Coach of the Year accolades.
Junior Adam Gustad (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South) was BVU’s lone all-conference selection and the first for the program since Nate Stuck and Chris Williams were each selected to the team following the 2002 campaign after capturing the program’s only IIAC Doubles Championship.
Gustad, who played the number one singles and doubles slot for the Beavers, finished the year with a 3-3 overall record during league play in singles matches, while teaming up with Kyle Shade in doubles and going 3-3 in IIAC matches and 9-6 overall.
BVU head coach Kevin McCadams helped guide the team to its best overall finish since 1997. The team went 10-7 overall and tied for third in the conference standings – both are the highest for the program since that year.
Coe College’s Noah Sprinkel was tabbed as the IIAC MVP with Kohawk head coach Eric Rodgers joining McCadams as Co-Coach of the Year.
