Six individuals took part in and represented Buena Vista University during the ISU National qualifying meet at Iowa State University on Saturday.
Maggie Marker was one of two runners competing in the 60 meter dash, and it was Maggie winning the event in a personal-best time of 7.87 seconds, a mark that was just shy of a provisional qualifying mark.
Rachel Burnette competed in the 60 meter hurdles, but did not qualify to the finals after a preliminary time of 9.45 seconds.
Garrett Woodson improved his time in the 800 meter run, crossing the finish line in 1:56.30, coming within .13 seconds of his brother's team-best time this year.
Doug Bohaty was strong in the 60 meter hurdles, making the finals of the event after running a personal-best 8.76 seconds in the prelims. Teammate Austin Groth was close behind in 8.93, but just missed out on the finals. Bohaty, who had grabbed the final spot, went on to place seventh in an even faster time of 8.53 seconds.
Nolan Sampson looked to carry over the momentum from his fifth-place finish at the IIAC Indoor Championships in the high jump into Saturday, but came up on the short end after failing to record a height.
BVU opens its outdoor campaign on March 29-30 at the Washu Invite.
