Men's Tennis Edges Morningside in Non-Conference Match

Apr. 26, 2013

Sioux City, Iowa

The Buena Vista men's tennis team picked up its seventh win over its last nine matches this season by picking up a thrilling 5-4 non-conference decision at Morningside College Thursday afternoon.

BVU picked up two wins in doubles play to get things started.  At number one, Adam Gustad and Kyle Shade improved to 7-3 over their last 10 matches as they notched an 8-6 decision. Christian Price and Dillon Nevius secured an 8-5 triumph, moving them to 5-4 on the year.  The lone setback for the Beavers in doubles play was a close 8-6 decision in the number two slot by Jason Ehrhardt and Cole Renken.

After the Mustangs (3-11) won both the number one and two matches, the Beavers closed strong, winning three of the final four match-ups.  Dillon Nevius nearly made it four straight to close it out, but he came up just short in a three-set tiebreaker (4-6, 6-2, 10-7).

Buena Vista improves its overall season record to 9-5 and will now close out the regular season by hosting Luther College on Sunday afternoon in a 1:00pm contest.
