English

Who wrote your favorite book? What was compelling about the writer's ability to describe a situation or bring a personality to life? Perhaps you feel driven to write yourself, capturing your thoughts and the world around you in words and phrases, written and spoken. As an English major, you’ll learn how to increase the effectiveness of your self-expression as you develop composition skills for professional success and a literary background for personal fulfillment.

Through the English program, you’ll be immersed in the works of some of the world's best wordsmiths through genre surveys and specialized courses. You’ll learn how to write in different styles and enhance your composition technique. You’ll examine the basics of linguistics and literary theory as you acquire critical skills to analyze in-depth the texts you read.
