About BVU's Online, Site and Graduate Programs
Buena Vista University’s main campus was founded in 1891, and the University now extends to 16 remote learning locations across Iowa, plus online. We are fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and BVU is well-known in Iowa for our education programs and is fully approved by the Iowa Department of Education.
Over 1,400 students are enrolled at Buena Vista University's locations throughout the state of Iowa, which has graduated more than 15,000 students since it started almost 40 years ago. Of our current students, 700 are enrolled in at least one BVU undergraduate online course.
Students appreciate the pace, academic rigor, class size, and the online or local community college campus class options that their BVU experience gives them.
It’s possible for undergraduates with 60 or more credit hours or an associate’s degree to earn a bachelor’s degree in as little as two years. For students seeking a bachelor’s degree, our advisors at each location facilitate a smooth transfer of credits from community colleges and other schools of higher education.
Our Master of Education and Master of Science in Education degrees and graduate education endorsements and licensures are perfect for Iowa-based professional educators who want to advance their careers.
BVU’s diverse menu of over 50 different programs offers options that meet your education needs, and you can combine online classes, face-to-face courses, and web-based classes to make scheduling even more convenient.
