Being a student at BVU gives Monica the opportunity to develop the interests she found as a student at Storm Lake High School. From photography to social justice issues, Monica is focusing on her skills for professional and personal success.

Putting knowledge to work

With support from the John & Susan Aschenbrenner Student Development Award, Monica combined her interest in social justice issues with her political science major to complete an January internship with Wolfsdorf Immigration Law Group in Los Angeles. Media and art success

During her senior year at Storm Lake High School, Monica's interest in art and design led her to enter the Western Iowa Salon Exhibition hosted by BVU, and her entry was accepted! Now as a student at BVU, Monica is a photographer for the student-produced news website, The Tack, and a project she worked on won first place honors! Learn about BVU's Digital Media programs...

Community involvement

Monica's passion for being involved in her community has also continued at BVU. She serves as a Dean's Fellow mentor, joined the Society for Collegiate Journalists, and works as an AmeriCorps member.
