BVU is committed to student safety. We want you to feel at ease in the place you'll call home for four years. Residence halls are locked at all times, and only students with keycards can access them. Each residential building is equipped with fire alarms and an emergency phone near the entrance.
Campus safety at Buena Vista University is led by Mark Kirkholm, a veteran police officer. His staff consists of eight uniformed officers who provide security services to the entire campus 24 hours a day. Each officer is trained and certified before they begin routine patrol of all areas of campus on foot or by vehicle. They can also provide a security escort, change a flat tire or take you to the medical clinic for non-emergency appointments. Campus Security offices are located in the Student Services suites in Siebens Forum.
