BVU Students Help Create Quilts for Veterans' Families

BVU students recently volunteered their time at Freedom Quilts, a non-profit organization that makes quilts for the families of deceased veterans. Members of Student MOVE, the campus organization that coordinates service activities, spent two hours operating sewing machines and sewing knots into the quilts.

Freedom Quilts is based in Fonda and is operated by local veterans Betty and Dennis Nielsen. Since the events of Sept. 11, 2001, they have created over 7,000 quilts. BVU's volunteer effort was coordinated by seniors Kimberly Perez and Alexa Guessford.
