Resident Assistant Information

The office of Residence Life employs students in two different leadership positions in the residence halls. Community Coordinators (CCs) and Resident Assistants (RAs) are trained in a wide variety of areas including but not limited to: roommate issues, conflict resolution, referencing University resources, promoting involvement opportunities, submitting work orders and educating and enforcing University policies. CCs and RAs are also effective in solving problems and are good listeners when you just need someone to talk to. CCs are experienced RAs who have been promoted to take on a more administrative role in the residence halls. RAs on the other hand, can be student leaders serving in their first year. If you are considering applying for an RA position, please review the timeline below and apply once applications become available.

2017 Hiring Timeline

  • Returning Resident Assistants
    • Applications will be made available by Monday, January 30th, 2017
    • Applications are due by Friday, February 17, 2017 at 5:00pm

  • New Resident Assistants
    • If interested in becoming an RA for the 2017-2018 school year, you MUST attend one of the following Information Sessions:
      • January 6, 2017 @ 6pm in Liberty 1st Floor Lounge
      • January 12, 2017 @ 12pm in Forum Room 9
      • January 31, 2017 @ 6pm in Grand 1st Floor Lounge
      • February 2, 2017 @ 11am in Forum Room 9
      • February 6, 2017 @ 8pm in Briscoe 1 Lounge, Suites
      • February 7, 2017 @ 11am in Pierce/White Skybox
      • February 14, 2017 @ pm in Forum Room 10
      • February 15, 2017 @ 6pm in Pierce/White Skybox
      • February 16, 2017 @ 12pm in Forum Room 10
    • Applications will be made available via the "BVU RA Application Process" Facebook page.
    • Two professional reference forms are due to the Student Affairs Office by Friday, February 17, 2017 at 5pm.
    • Applications are due by Friday, February 17, 2017 at 5pm and must be sent via email to
    • Applicants MUST attend a mandatory Group Process Interview on Sunday, February 26th, 2017 from 1pm-3pm.
    • Interviews will take place between February 26 - March 1st

  • Decisions
    • ALL applicants will be notified of their hiring status by March 24, 2017
    • All offers must be accepted or declined by March 31, 2017 at 5pm


  • Important Dates for Room Draw
    • Floor Meetings will take place between March 27th - April 6th, 2017 in the residence halls.
    • Suite applications will become available on Friday, April 7th, 2017 and are due by Friday, April 14th, 2017 to the Student Affairs Office by 5pm.
    • Hall-apalooza (Single/Double room selection) will take place on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 6pm-9pm in the Dows Conference Center located in the the Siebens Forum
