Assistant Professor of Psychology
Buena Vista University, a private, nationally recognized Midwestern baccalaureate institution located on the shores of a 3,200 acre natural lake, invites applications for a tenure track position in Biological/Neuroscience or Clinical/Counseling Psychology at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2014. Responsibilities include teaching selections from the following courses: Biological/Neuroscience, Counseling/Clinical, Abnormal Psychology, Cognition, Sensation and Perception, and courses within the candidate’s area of expertise. Interested candidates may, but are not obligated to, supervise student internships, design and offer international travel courses or participate in the first-year experience course. A record of strong teaching experience and the ability and willingness to involve undergraduates in a research program is essential. Ph.D. required.
Candidates must have a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education. Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise in both clinical/counseling and biopsychology. In addition to a wide variety of courses, the Psychology program at BVU emphasizes research, critical thinking, and communication skills. Our students present their research at regional conferences including the Minnesota Undergraduate Psychology Conference and the Midwest Psychological Association Conference. The Psychology program at BVU has an active Psi Chi and Psychology Club. The program is housed in the Social Science and Arts Hall which was renovated in 2008.

We are looking for candidates who are excited to work in a Midwestern setting at a financially sound small private university. Buena Vista University has an enrollment of about 1000 full-time residential students. The city of Storm Lake has a population of approximately 11,000 and is one of the most ethnically diverse communities in Iowa.
