Media Support Technician

Buena Vista University currently has an opening for a Media Support Technician in the Event Technical Services department. BVU seeks a qualified theater technician to assist with live performance and presentation events on campus. The qualified applicant will primarily be responsible for operating and maintaining theatrical lighting equipment, but also assisting with other aspects of event production. Qualified applicant will also be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining multimedia classroom technology around campus. Good customer service skills required. High School diploma or equivalent is required and a bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. A background check will be conducted on the final candidate. Residence Hall Director

Buena Vista University has an opening for the position of Residence Hall Director (RHD). This position is responsible for the daily operations of a specific residential area with approximately 200 students. The RHD will focus on facilitating a community building program within assigned residence halls. This position requires collaborating with other division wide and university initiatives; assisting with the development and implementation of educational and social programming by paraprofessional staff; and monitoring hall programming budgets. This position will also directly supervise a paraprofessional staff of 10-15 undergraduate students. Due to the time demands of the position, Residence Hall Directors are full-time, live-in positions. A Bachelor’s Degree is required plus a minimum of one year of residence life/housing experience. A Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration or a similar field is preferred along with 2 years’ experience in residence life/housing. Assistant Marketing Director for Media Relations

The Assistant Marketing Director for Media Relations oversees and directs media relation communications and efforts on behalf of the University to ensure high quality and frequent media coverage in a defined market area. This position is responsible for initiating and moderating communications between the institution and various media outlets, including informing the media when something new happens within the institution and pitching and/or writing compelling brand message stories. A high level of interpersonal skills and professionalism are necessary to network with media outlets and internal colleagues. Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience working with publications, media, direct mail writing and speech writing are required. A Bachelor’s degree is required along with five to eight years of marketing and communication experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
