Vivian and Paul McCorkle Student Leadership Award
The Vivian and Paul McCorkle Student Leadership Award was established to recognize an outstanding first year student who has demonstrated potential for leadership and scholarship during the current academic year and has maintained a 3.20 grade point during the first semester of their first year. The recipient of this award will be announced at the Student Recognition Dinner.
BVU faculty and staff may nominate a first year student they consider worthy of this award. A nominating letter with rationale why their nominee should receive the award should be sent to the Associate Dean of Faculty Office.
Once a student is nominated for the award, he or she will be invited to submit the following documents to the Associate Dean of Faculty Office:
- Letter of Application – the student will describe their academic achievements and leadership experience. The student should also describe what they hope to accomplish, both in terms of academics and leadership, in their time at BVU.
- Transcript – the student will provide an unofficial copy of his or her transcript, available on Campus Connect.
- Resume – the student will provide a brief resume, making sure to include a list of activities, honors, and achievements.
