Lane Gries began his duties as head strength and conditioning coach for the Beavers on October 1, 2012.
Gries joined the Beaver staff after serving as an athletic performance graduate assistant at Baylor University since January of 2012 under Assistant Athletic Director-Athletic Performance, Kaz Kazadi. At Baylor he designed programs for the Women's Equestrian and Acrobatics & Tumbling teams while assisting the Football and Track & Field teams.
Before his stint at Baylor, Laneworked at the University of Iowa where he interned in the Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning department under Head Coach Bill Maxwell. While at Iowa, Lane assisted with the Track & Field team, Men's & Women's Swim Team, as well as Men's Basketball and Men's Baseball.
Prior to his collegiate coaching duties at the University of Iowa, Lane coached at Fit2Live gym in Iowa City, IA as a freelance Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Lane brings a unique perspective to Buena Vista University, having served multiple combat deployments in Iraq as a Rifleman in the United States Marine Corps prior to earning his Bachelor's degree in Health and Sport Studies from the University of Iowa.
He currently holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and the American College of Sports Medicine.
