Broll Set to Begin Quest for National Title

The NCAA DIII Wrestling Championships are just days away from kicking-off, and that means the final collegiate event for Buena Vista senior 184-pounder Brian Broll, who's taking part in the championships for the fourth straight year. He'll begin his quest for a potential national championship when action gets underway inside of the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, this Friday morning, March 15 at 10:00 am. Buena Vista senior 184-pounder Brian Broll was the lone Beaver wrestler to advance into Saturday evenings placing round, and he took home runner-up honors at the Central Regional Championships after being edged 5-4 in the championship match by seventh seed Jayden DeVilbiss of Luther College. Beaver Wrestlers Down Storm, 33-19

The Buena Vista wrestling team got the benefit of hosting an additional home match on Friday night, and scored some key bonus points throughout the match to defeat visiting Simpson College, 33-19. Sophomore Dustin Shinkle captured a second period pin for Buena Vista on Friday night at 149 pounds, but it was #23 Luther College picking up bonus points in six of the remaining nine weights to hand the Beavers a 45-6 loss. It was the final Iowa Conference dual of the season for BVU. READ MORE

The Buena Vista wrestling team jumped out to a 16-0 over Simpson College on Tuesday night, and after the Storm battled back to even things up at 22-22, freshman Gable Bonner stepped up and notched a pin at 285 pounds to help give the Beavers a thrilling, 28-22 Iowa Conference dual victory. Beaver Grapplers Close out Home Schedule with Loss to Duhawks

Sophomores Steve Gutschenritter and Seth Shatto each picked up victories, while junior Branden Schultz picked up a forfeit to build a 12-7 lead, but it was Loras College going on to top the Beaver wrestling team on Wednesday night, 34-12, in an Iowa Conference dual.
