Women's Golf in Eighth at Midway Point of IIAC Championships

Thirty-six holes of the 2012 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Women's Golf Championships are in the book, and the Buena Vista women sit in eighth place overall after a second round total of 365.  The first two rounds of play took place at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls.

Following an opening-round 371 on Friday, the Beavers came out and shaved off six total shots and gained eight strokes on the field overall.  The University of Dubuque, which was in sixth after day one, is now one spot ahead of BVU by 21 strokes.

Jasey Zander recorded a round of 90 on Saturday after posting a round of 89 on Friday.  She enters the midway point as the high finisher for the Beavers, sitting in a tie for 25th.  Arinda Abbuhl turned in the best round for the Beavers on Saturday, improving by seven shots and now sits in 30th, just four shots back of Zander.

Nora Seda and Megan Sweeney are each tied for 34th at 187, while Ashley Miller rounds out the line-up for BVU.

Abby Potts of Loras College and Kelsi Sawatzky of Wartburg College (152) are tied for the individual title heading into next weekend's final two rounds.  The duo leads by two shots over two other golfers.  Wartburg also holds a four-shot lead at the midway point of the team race over Luther College.

The final two rounds of the championships will take place beginning with round three next Friday, October 5 at Bos Landen CC near Pella with the Beavers teeing-off in the first way at 9:00am.
