Sophomore Jasey Zander (Madrid, Iowa/West Central Valley) fired a career-best 81 on Friday to begin play at the Palace City Classic before finishing with a 90 on Saturday, but she still finished in a tie for seventh to help lead the Buena Vista women’s golf team throughout the 36-hole event.

Arinda Abbuhl (Red Oak, Iowa/Red Oak) tied for 18th after shaving three strokes off her opening round score, matching her best score of the year.  Megan Sweeney (Blaine, Minn./Totino-Grace) and Ashley Miller (Storm Lake, Iowa/St. Mary’s) carded rounds of 94 and 99, respectively, while Nora Seda (Traer, Iowa/North Tama) rounded out the scores for the Beavers.

As a team, BVU dropped one spot from Friday and finished in sixth place out of eight teams.  It was four shots back of Mt. Marty in fifth and 11 shots back of fourth.  The Beavers will compete at Iowa Lakes CC on Sunday as its final tune-up before teeing-off the Iowa Conference Championships, which get underway next Friday and Saturday in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
