



Freshman Luke Anderson shaved seven strokes off of his opening round score from Friday to help lead the Buena Vista men’s golf team on Saturday during the second and final day of the Central College Men’s Golf Spring Invite.
Anderson posted an 83 and was one of three Beavers to finish with that score for the day. Jaron Smool, who opened with an 80 on Friday, also posted an 83 on Saturday and was the team’s high finisher in a tie for 31st. Mitch Brunick tied for 35th following rounds of 82 and 83, while Connor Dondale, Anderson and Troy Ticknor rounded out the group.
As a team, BVU finished 11th out of the 14 teams (668), but were just four shots back of ninth. The host Dutch took the team title with a two-day score of 609. Eric Wolf, from the University of Dubuque took medalist honors, after carding a one-over 72 on Saturday, to win by four strokes over Central’s Brent Messmore.
Buena Vista will return to the course next Saturday and Sunday to take part in the Wartburg College Invite. The team then hosts its annual BVU Spring Invite the following Friday and Saturday (April 20 and 21) out at Lake Creek Country Club.
