Dirkx Named to Capital One Academic All-District First Team

Buena Vista senior starting pitcher Michael Dirkx has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team as announced on Thursday. He will now go on the ballot for Academic All-American voting, where a first, second and third team will be announced later this month.
Dirkx, last year's NCAA Division III Baseball Elite 88 Award winner, was one of two pitchers selected to the team and was also one of three Iowa Conference players to earn such recognition.
The Capital One All-District Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), are to recognize players for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Dirkx is a biology major from Carroll, Iowa with a 4.00 GPA.
