The Buena Vista track and field teams continued their schedule on Saturday by hosting the annual BVU Open inside of the Lamberti Recreation Center.
On the women’s side, BVU captured fifth thru eighth in the 55 meter dash, led by Maggie Marker’s clocking of 7.50 seconds which was more than a tenth of a second faster than last week.
The Beavers also had a strong showing in the 200 meter dash, placing three in the top-five with Marker again leading the way with a time of 26.71 en route to a third-place finish. Laura Eberly was next in 27.50, as Casey James took fifth in 27.65.
Rachel Burnette was runner-up in the 55 meter hurdles with a finals time of 9.15, as Whitney Nelson finished seventh (9.72).
Amber Reidy won the pole vault with a height of 3.08 meters.
Over on the men’s side, BVU had three individuals advance into the finals of the 55 meter hurdles, led by Doug Bohaty’s fifth-place finish in a time of 8.24 seconds. Austin Groth was sixth in 8.32 in just his second career race.
Ryan Eberly was third in the 400 meter dash, reaching the finish line in 52.18 seconds, shaving nearly six-tenths off of last week’s time. Andrew Smith was sixth in the 600 meter run.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Seth Woodson, Ryan Eberly, Garrett Woodson and Brian Patterson placed sixth overall in a time of 3:31.48. The 4x800 meter relay team of Seth Woodson, Garrett Woodson, Andrew Smith and Brian Patterson finished fourth overall in a school record time of 8:03.04. The group broke the previous mark of 8:08.12 set back in 1999.
Buena Vista will get to remain on its home surface again next week when it hosts the annual Dennis Young Classic on Saturday, February 2 beginning at 9:00am.
