The Buena Vista track and field teams concluded the 2013 Iowa Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday afternoon to the tune of 10 all-conferences, bettering last year's total of nine.
BVU picked up the first two accolades on Friday when senior Bo Darrow placed second in the javelin throw and the men's 4x800 meter relay team took third.
The Beavers added to that total on the final day Saturday. On the women's side, sophomore Maggie Marker took third in the 100 meter dash and was runner-up in the 200 meter dash. Senior Rachel Burnette also took runner-up honors in the 400 meter hurdles after placing fourth in the 100 meter hurdles. Junior Amber Riedy added to the second-place finishes by tying for the mark in the pole vault with a height of 3.06 meters.
The 4x100 meter relay team also landed in the second spot, reaching the finish line in a time of 48.16. The time was 0.02 seconds from matching the school record set last season.
Over on the men's side, Ryan Eberly took third in the 400 meter dash in a time of 49.36 with Brock Loseke taking eighth. Loseke was also sixth in the 200.
Sophomore Seth Woodson, last year's outdoor conference champion in the 800 meter run, came within 0.30 seconds of a repeat in 2013. He finished second this time around, crossing the line in 1:56.68.
Senior Andrew Smith captured all-conference accolades in the 400 meter hurdles after taking third in a time of 54.29 seconds. He was edged by 0.014 seconds for second.
The 4x400 meter relay team took fourth in 3:21.11, finishing only three seconds out of a top-three spot.
Overall, the Beaver women took fifth place in the team race with 55 points, while the men were seventh (49 points).
