The Buena Vista men’s tennis team was back in action for the first time in over two weeks, and the team came up just short of making it six wins in a row, as it fell, 6-3, to visiting Augustana College (S.D.) on Saturday afternoon.
Adam Gustad and Kyle Shade picked up a thrilling 8-6 win at number one doubles to get the match started. The Beavers were looking to take 2-of-3 doubles matches heading into singles play, but came up just short in the third, as Christian Price and Dillon Nevius fell 9-7.
Price and Cole Renken kept the team in the match with wins in their respective singles bouts, including a third-set tiebreaking victory from Renken (4-6, 6-2, 13-11). BVU, however, came up short in the other six matches, falling in straight sets in each outing.
The Beavers are now 7-4 overall and will now host Central College in an Iowa Conference match next Saturday at 1:00pm.
