
The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) released its 2012 Preseason Football Coaches Poll on Friday with the Beavers picked to finish sixth.
The University of Dubuque, last year's regular season champion received six of the possible seven first place votes and totaled 52 points to be favored as this year's champion. Wartburg College tallied 48 points and was picked second.
BVU, which has 15 starters and 25 letterwinners back from last year's team which went 2-8 overall (2-6 IIAC) finished with 23 points.
Head coach Jay Anderson says, "We are excited to get started with the 2012 season. There will be several position battles to be sorted out during camp. The conference race should be exciting to watch this year throughout the IIAC."
The Beavers kick-off their season at home on September 1 against UW-Platteville at 1:00pm. The league portion of its schedule is slated to begin on September 29 with a road contest at Coe College starting at 1:00pm.
