Beavers Fall to #23 Luther 45-6

Sophomore Dustin Shinkle (Van Horne, Iowa/Benton Community) captured a second period pin for Buena Vista on Friday night at 149 pounds, but it was #23 Luther College picking up bonus points in six of the remaining nine weights to hand the Beavers a 45-6 loss.  It was the final Iowa Conference dual of the season for BVU.

Shinkle’s pin was his second of the year and cut the BVU deficit to 15-6.  The Norse, however, were too much in the end, winning three matches by fall and three others by decision.

Buena Vista wraps up its conference slate at 1-9 overall (1-6 IIAC).  The team will now conclude its regular season when it takes part in the Augustana College Open on February 17.  The NCAA Regional Tournament follows that on March 2 at Five Flags in Dubuque.
