The Buena Vista men’s soccer team began Iowa Conference play on Saturday afternoon, and was up against a tough test as it traveled to fourth-ranked Loras College. The Duhawks led 3-0 at the half and broke the game open over the final 45 minutes en route to a 10-0 victory.
Loras broke a scoreless match during the 17th minute before adding first half goals during the 23rd and 41st minutes. The Duhakws, who out-shot the Beavers 38-0 on the day, broke the game open with three goals during the first 15 minutes of the second half before adding the final three over the last 15 minutes.
Eight different players scored goals for the Duhawks (8-1-1, 1-0 IIAC), who had their run of winning at least a share of five straight Iowa Conference regular season championships stopped last year.
Buena Vista (5-2-1) will look to bounce back on Sunday afternoon when it steps out of league play to host Grinnell College, which is 1-4-1 on the year heading into its Saturday match. Game time between the two teams is scheduled for 1:00pm inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium.
