The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced on Wednesday, February 29, its 2012 All-IIAC Women’s Basketball Teams, and Buena Vista was represented with senior Jessica Christensen landing a spot on the league’s Second Team
Christensen, who was also a Second Team selection as a junior a year ago, finished her final collegiate campaign leading the team in scoring (13.6ppg) and rebounding (8.4rpg), while sitting seventh and second among the conference leaders, respectively. She scored in double figures in all but five of the games this season and notched her only double-double of the year against Central College on January 28. She hauled in at least six rebounds in all but two games.
Christensen, who is one of six repeat all-conference performers this season, also ranked in the top-10 in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (37.3 percent) and was fourth in total makes (50). Also, defensively, she tied for third in steals per game (2.24).
Coe College’s Kayla Waskow was voted as the IIAC MVP this season, while Wartburg College’s Leslie Wilson was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year. Simpson College’s Brian Niemuth was tabbed as the IIAC Coach of the Year.
