Four new members were enshrined into the Buena Vista University Athletics Hall of Fame this fall.  Doug Smith ’69, Brad Jones ’77, Jennifer Erickson ’96, and Adam Jones ’02 were formally inducted on Saturday, September 1, 2012, during halftime ceremonies of the Beavers’ season-opening football game with the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

The Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 1969 to recognize the achievements of student athletes at what was then Buena Vista College. Since then, over one hundred student-athletes and coaches have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Hall of Fame Room

In 2005, Buena Vista University dedicated the Athletics Hall of Fame Room. The room honors past athletic greatness at BVU and is located in Siebens Fieldhouse Room 114. The Hall of Fame Room serves as a multipurpose location that celebrates Buena Vista athletic achievements and hosts receptions and gatherings.

The hall outside of the room on the north side of Siebens Fieldhouse honors the former athletes and coaches who have been inducted into the school's Athletics Hall of Fame since 1969. Each inductee is featured on a plaque with an etching of their likeness, a listing of sports participated in, and year of graduation.

The actual hall of fame room displays memorabilia which highlights the school's athletic accomplishments. A new glass trophy case stands in the northeast corner of the room. The room includes a conference area for meetings as well as amenities for small receptions. Various pieces of Buena Vista sports memorabilia are on display and will rotate throughout the school year.

The room is open to all alumni and friends of the University on various occasions, including Hall of Fame Weekend and Homecoming Weekend.

Anyone can nominate a BVU athlete, coach or contributor for the Athletics Hall of Fame.
