Scott Byers Named to BVU Board of Trustees

Buena Vista University has announced that Scott Byers of Roaring Brook Township, Pa., has been elected to the Board of Trustees.

Byers is president and chief executive officer of EDM Americas. He also serves as a board member of EDM Group in London.

“Scott brings a rare combination of higher education and business experience to the Board. He is a very successful executive, and we look forward to working with him,” says BVU President Fred Moore.

Byers earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Robert Morris University in 1987 and went on to earn his masters of business administration in 1992 from American University. He received his juris doctorate in 2001.

Earlier in his career, Byers worked at US Airways, and then served as a financial analyst at American University with several promotions to Assistant Vice President and Treasurer. He became CFO and general counsel at Wilkes University before transitioning to his current company, Diversified Information Technologies, Inc. (DIT) as president and CEO. In March 2013, he constructed a purchase of DIT with the EDM Group out of the UK, and he now serves as president and CEO of EDM Americas.

“I have a long history in the higher education world and believe I can contribute value to Buena Vista University to help make a difference. BVU and higher education has some serious challenges and opportunities, and I believe BVU is ripe to make the most of those for the benefit of past, present and future students,” says Byers.

His wife, June, works at Moses Taylor Hospital as a registered nurse. They have four children: Elliott, a recent graduate of Stanford University; Evan, a junior at Bucknell University; Benjamin, a freshman in high school; and Alexandra, a fifth grader.

Among his civic activities, Byers serves on the Geisinger Community Medical Center Advisory Board and TeamPA Foundation Board of Directors.

His hobbies and outside interests include spending time with his family and attending their sporting events.
