The Des Moines Chapter of the Mothers of Multiples-is sponsoring two $350 scholarships for the 2012-13 academic year for Iowa's multiple birth students pursuing enrollment or currently enrolled in college. More information can be found at: http://dmmom.bravehost.com/Community.htm.
5,000 Engineering Scholarships -ASCO Numatics, the world's leading manufacturer of comprehensive fluid automation, flow control, and pneumatics solutions, is proud to announce the beginning of the 2012/2013 scholarship application period. We will award two $5,000 merit-based scholarships to U.S. engineering students who are pursuing careers in industrial automation-related disciplines. ASCO Numatics will also make $1,000 grants to the engineering departments of the colleges in which the winners are enrolled. Principal Financial Group Minority Scholarship
The Principal Financial Group has renewed their Minority Scholarship Program and will award four $2,500 scholarships to students on the campuses of our member institutions. These minority awards are very prestigious and each institution may submit one nomination. Internships are a strong possibility for these scholars, so applicants should be interested in an internship possibility.
To be eligible for these scholarships, students must:
- Be of sophomore status or above
- Have a GPA of 3.0 or above
- Be a US Citizen or have permanent residency
- Be Minority in descent
- Have a strong interest in an internship with Principal
- Show leadership capabilities
The nominee must attach an essay (200 words or less) describing academic interests, professional objectives, and personal/community activities and experiences to an application that can be requested from the Office of Financial Assistance. Both pieces of the application must be received in our office by May 1, 2012.
Principal Technology Scholarship
The Principal Financial Group has renewed their Technology Scholarship Program and will award six $2,500 scholarships to students on the campuses of our selected member institutions (BVU is a member institution). These technology awards are very prestigious and each institution may submit one nomination. Internships are a strong possibility for these scholars, so applicants should have an interest in an internship.
To be eligible for these scholarships, students must:
- Be of sophomore status or above
- Have a GPA of 3.0 or above
- Be a US Citizenship or have permanent residency
- Have declared a major in IT or a related field
- Have a strong interest in an internship with Principal
- Have a demonstrated record of computer literacy
- Have the ability to work in a group setting
The nominee must attach an essay (200 words or less) describing academic interests, professional objectives, and personal/community activities and experiences to an application that can be requested from the Office of Financial Assistance. Both pieces of the application must be received in our office by May 11, 2012.
Principal Financial Group Business Scholarship

Internships are a strong possibility for these scholars, so applicants should be interested in an internship.
To be eligible for these scholarships, students must:

- Be a US Citizenship or have permanent residency
- Have declared a major in Finance, Accounting, Management, Marketing, Real Estate, Economics or Communications
- Have a strong interest in an internship with Principal
- Show leadership capabilities
The nominee must attach an essay (200 words or less) describing academic interests, professional objectives, and personal/community activities and experiences to an application that can be requested from the Office of Financial Assistance. Both pieces of the application must be received in our office by May 1, 2012.
Spahn & Rose Lumber Co.- has established a scholarship program with the Iowa College Foundation beginning in the 2012-2013 academic year. Two scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded for the 2012-2013 academic year. The following criteria will be used in determining scholarship recipients:
- Must be a Junior in the upcoming Fall 2012 semester
- Must be a declared Business major
- Resident of one of the following counties: Bremer, Clayton, Marshall, Hancock, Clinton, Dubuque, Buchanan, Mitchell, Fayette, Tama, Marion, Jones, Howard, Winneshiek, Cedar or Grundy
- Minimum GPA of 2.75
- Must be involved in at least one student academic/professional organization
- Must have interest in internship opportunity within Spahn & Rose Lumber Co.
Recipients will be eligible to renew the award in their senior year if the above criteria are maintained.
Applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance and are due back to the Office by April 17, 2012. Winners will be selected and notified shortly after that date.

Abbott &Fenner Scholarship Program
Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to be able to continue with their scholarship program for the 4th year. They will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year.

Scholarships with expired deadlines (or deadline not known)-some may be available in future years
The Business and Professional Women of Iowa Foundation-now taking applications for educational scholarships for the 2012-13 year. Applicants must be; US Citizens and a resident of Iowa, non-traditional, a sophomore or better in academic standing. Applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2012. Awards are for $1,000 each. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance.
Health Care Career Scholarships-recipients will be awarded $3,000 per academic year. Work repayment in an Iowa hospital is mandatory. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in one of the health care professions listed on the application and must be within two years of earning their degree. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance and are due by March 14, 2012.
Yankton College Scholarship Program-Yankton College closed its doors in 1984, but still maintains its missions as a non-profit organization, awarding scholarships and supporting educational opportunities. With that in mind, awards are available to students that have a family relationship to Yankton College alumni, former faculty or staff, or a family friend, teacher or pastor with a YC connection recommendation. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance and are due by February 10, 2012.
HY-Vee Foundation awards-up to 40 $1,000 awards will be available for the 2012-13 school year. Employment with Hy-Vee is required. Applications are due by February 10, 2012 and materials are available in the Office of Financial Assistance.
Buick Achievers Scholarship Program-recognizes students who put forth the effort and find success both in and out of the classroom, yet unable to attend college without financial assistance. Students who major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry can apply at: www.buickachievers.com by February 29, 2012.
Des Moines Women's Club Memorial Scholarship-Applications and instructions for applying for these scholarships may be downloaded at www.desmoineswomensclub.org and clicking on "scholarships". The deadline for application is January 29, 2012.
2011 Robert D. Blue Scholarship-made possible by the Iowa Centennial memorial Foundation. Any Iowa student who plans to attend an Iowa college is eligible to apply. Applicants are expected to demonstrate literary and scholastic ability, exhibit qualities of truth, courage, and fellowship, and display mral force of character. Application information is available at www.rdblue.org. Applications are due by May 10, 2011.
The Siouxland Professional Women's Network is please to again announce a $1,000 scholarship opportunity for a non-traditional Siouxland woman planning to attend college in 2011-12. Eligible applicants are that with a permanent residence within 50-mile radius of Sioux City, 24 years of age or older with at least 1 year's break in education. The application may be found on the Siouxland Professional Women's Network facebook page or inquiry at SCspwn@gmail.com. Application deadline is April 22, 2011.
Iowa Hosptial Education and Research Foundation Scholarships are available in amounts up to $6,000 ($3,000 a year for a maximum of two years). In 2010, thirty-one $3,000 scholarships were awarded.
The goal of this program is to fill healthcare positions that currently have a significant number of openings across Iowa. Selected students must be willing to commit to working one year in an Iowa hospital. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Assistance or at: www.ihaonline.org for students enrolled in majors related to healthcare (a list is available on the application), including social work.
Computer Science and Computer Engineering Scholarship-A $1,000 academic award will be given to a student pursuing a degree in these areas.

US Bank Internet Scholarship Program-Forty $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in a random drawing. Program runs October through March. Apply online at www.usbank.com/studentloans
Applications are now being taken for the Iowa Braille School's McGregor Scholarship. We anticipate awarding up to $60,000 per year. The McGregor Scholarship Program is for students who are blind or visually impaired and meet the following eligibility requirements:
- blind or visually impaired prior to reaching the age of 21
- an Iowa resident for the twelve months preceding the application date
- a high school graduate or a graduating senior, or a GED recipient
- applying for the scholarship within eight (8) years from the high school graduation date or the date of receipt of a GED
- pursuing a post-secondary course of study on a full-time* basis in a degree program from an accredited college, university, or vocational institution within the U.S.
- maintaining a 2.5 grade point average

The United State Navy Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program is available to students who are seeking enrollment into a medical school in the area of Medicine/Dentistry/Optometry. Accountemps/American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA) Scholarship Program is offering the following:
Accountemps/AICPA Scholarship - two $2,500 scholarships available to student affiliate members pursuing studies in accounting. Eligible students must have a declared major in accounting, finance or information systems and must have a cgpa of 3.0 or better with 30 or more earned hours, 6 of which must be in accounting.

RHODES SCHOLARSHIP FOR TEACHERS
This fellowship is designed to bring the best and the brightest young people to careers as teachers in New York City public schools. The scholarship will support 20 of the nation's most outstanding and accomplished recent college graduates as they pursue master's degrees at Teacher's College and prepare for careers as NYC K-12 teachers. Students will be selected based on academic accomplishments, financial need, demonstrated potential for leadership, and commitment to service and a career as an urban teacher. JOHN GYLES EDUCATION AWARDS
Awards are available to both male and female students who are residents of Canada or the USA. A minimum CGPA of 2.7 is required. Selected students will receive up to $3,000. FAMILIES OF FREEDOM SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund was established to provide education assistance for postsecondary study to members of families impacted by events of September 11. Inquire at the Office of Financial Assistance for more information.
IOWA SCOTTISH RITE MASONIC EDUCATIONAL FUND
This is a LOAN program available to Iowa residents and may be extended to out-of-state students attending an Iowa college/university. Applicants must show financial need and have completed at least one year of college. A transcript must be submitted to show evidence of further academic success (sophomores must have a 2.75 c.g.p.a. and juniors, seniors and graduate students must have a 2.5 c.g.p.a. Three character references need to be submitted as well. Student may borrow up to $2000/year up to an aggregate total of $6,000. Principal payments need not be made until the loan recipient's education is completed or discontinued. Current interest rate is 6% per year and payments should be made in semi-annual installments.
