Data Science and Analytics

BVU students learn to mine and extract meaningful information from the massive amounts of raw data produced and consumed by businesses and other organizations. Living at the intersection of mathematics, computer science, statistics, and business, the data science and analytics program provides the theory and hands-on skills needed to drive business decision-making.

With combined disciplines

Students who graduate with this major can pursue careers in:

  • Data scientist
  • Data analyst
  • Research scientist
  • Data engineer
  • Big data platform engineer

Whereas many other data science programs are simply a repackaging of existing math and computer science courses, our curriculum provides data science-specific courses designed to give our students in-depth preparation in data manipulation, big data analytics, machine learning, and data mining.

Students engage in a senior capstone project that allows them to showcase what they have learned to potential employers.
