Dr. Lisa Bengtson has been with BVU since 2011.  She began her time with the University as an adjunct faculty member and an Assistant Athletic Trainer during her first six years at BVU.  Additionally, she has served as the Clinical Education Coordinator and Program Director for the Athletic Training Education Program.  She enjoys teaching both exercise science and interdisciplinary courses, enabling students to critically examine societal issues in a variety of classroom techniques, as well as develop practical application of knowledge through active learning mechanisms.  

Dr. Bengtson is a Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Iowa, a member of the National Athletic Training Association, Mid-American Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the Iowa Athletic Training Association.  Her primary areas of interest are injury prevention, public health, professional development, and organizational leadership.
